This is a very versatile oil for skin care!
This is a great quality Castor Oil.
I ordered this to try "oil cleansing" for my combination skin. Mixed with a few other oils (which required a bit of trial and error to find the right blend for my face), this technique has actually been amazing for my skin! It really does hydrate very nicely.
Many have recommended castor oil as a hair conditioner - I tried this and very much did not like the drying effect it seemed to have on my scalp (unexpected, right? Since this is an oil?). Anyway, it really did dry my scalp out. Coconut oil, another oil commonly recommended as a conditioner, had the opposite effect - it was pretty hard to wash out and made my hair and scalp feel greasy without a LOT of scrubbing. For hair care, I think argan oil is the way to go; at least for my hair.
Other uses for castor oil that I've found:
* Ashy ankles! Every winter, without fail, I get ashy ankles. No matter how much I exfoliate and moisturize, it's unavoidable. Rubbing castor oil into my ankles for a minute or two before bed every night and then covering with wool socks has been a miracle! This is the first time in my life I'm actually not embarrassed to welcome spring by wearing skirts which show my ankles.
* Nail care - this is a fantastic cuticle treatment! Massage into your cuticles for a few minutes a couple of times a week and your nails will look amazing! This made my cuticles very soft for trimming, made my nails shiny, and it seems like my nails may be a little stronger, but that may be more resultant from improved circulation and blood flow due to the massage than the actual application of castor oil itself. YMMV.
Wow, who would have thought I'd have that much to say about castor oil?
