As a professional groomer, I work on dogs with tear stains often. I've found this product works best on Maltese and poodle fur when it comes to removing the stains. I mainly use it to soften the cemented goobers that my clients leave on their dogs so I can pull them out with ease. I have had 2 dogs in the last 5 years that have had extreme negative reactions that almost caused blindness. So be very careful to avoid eye contact if you are worried that your dog may be sensitive to allergens. I feel this is 5 stars for smell, 5 stars for loosening hard goobers, 3 stars for removing tear stains.
