When I first ordered these brushes, I'll be honest I had moderate expectations, simply because I own makeup brushes that cost more that this entire set! If you do a search of well known brands, you'll find foundation brushes going for $30-$50...really! This set contains 14 brushes for less than $20! First off, I received the brushes and they were beautifully packaged, each one wrapped in plastic with a bonus matching drawstring pouch for storage. I sniffed them and they had a mild paint scent. I say mild because I didn't smell it until I held them close to my nose. I decided the quickest and easiest way to get rid of the smell was to just "air them out". I took the plastic off of each brush and laid them side by side on my vanity. I left them alone for about 4-5 days and when I went to use them on a Saturday morning I sniffed them again and realized the scent had disappeared, problem solved. I sorted through the brushes and after counting over and over again I realized I had 15 brushes and not 14, score!!! The 5 large brushes would be best for foundation/CC Cream/BB Cream. The remaining 10 are mostly eye brushes but a few can be used for concealer. For my full-face look I used the slightly rounded foundation brush, I loved it, it was so soft and my foundation looked flawless. I then used the pointed foundation brush to apply my concealer but it was a bit large for my under eye area. Next I used 4 of the eye brushes, the medium and small flat brushes to apply shadow to my eyelid, the larger fluffy brush to apply shadow to my brow bone, and the fluffy crease brush to blend it all together. When I was using the crease brush I suddenly realized it was EXACTLY like an expensive fluffy crease brush I already owned. I compared them side by side and yup, they were dupes. Overall, I was beyond impressed with these brushes. If I could offer one critique, it would be nice for a larger set (say 20 pieces), to include a better concealer brush (by better I mean smaller than the pointed foundation brush but larger than the one included), a contour brush, a setting brush, a blush brush, and a powder brush. I would say these brushes were much better quality and softer than several drug store brands I own, and very comparable to some of the high end brands I own. Furthermore, there was zero shedding from these brushes so I see them lasting a long time. I purchased these with a discount to test and review, but my opinion is my own and I genuinely enjoyed and loved these brushes.
