These worked perfectly in my den/office area that is connected to my living room without a door where I needed a pop of color. It's a 40-inch door opening so I also purchased a 7/8-inch stretchable rod to hang them on. Because of the feedback that it was too thin, I purchased 4 of them -- 2 for each side of the rod that can easily be opened in the middle when I want to enter and exit. That worked perfectly, although I could have gotten away with 3 but I like the symmetry of 2 on each side.
