Update: Iʻve now had this fountain for over a year and itʻs still working like a charm! The first few days I had it, the water seemed to leak out and I was constantly having to clean up a watery mess and refill it. I couldn't understand how it would leak as I couldnʻt find any cracks or areas where the water COULD leak. Well, I ended up getting surveillance put in my house a few weeks after this purchase and found (to my surprise) that it wasn't leaking at all! It was my kitten! He was all paws in scooping out and splashing about with the water. When I came home, sure enough there was water all over the floor and the fountain was near empty. When I rolled back the footage, the proof was in the pudding. Silly little thing. I ended up just putting one of those absorbent dish mats under it to minimize the water mess. Heʻs a year older now and not as interested in water play as he was before. It was pretty funny to discover it was him all along and not a faulty water fountain! If you suspect yours has a leak Iʻd consult with your kitten friend first. Itʻs more likely you have a rambunctious cat than a faulty system. Also, in regards to the noise that some people mention, I did find that when the water level gets below the top of the suction grate it does make a machine-motor-struggling-to-work type noise. Filling it above the grate line fixes that in a jiffy :) Love love love this fountain. I was a little worried when I read all the reviews AFTER purchasing it, but I'm glad I stuck with it. It doesn't make a sound so I don't understand what all these people complaining about it being noisy are talking about. All in all great product! And great price!!!
