Great affordable tablet :)
I have been using a drawing tablet for over 10 years so I am somewhat familiar with these and will try to be as fair as possible in my review. While I am most familiar with Wacom ( the old graphire series and intuos series to be specific), I have also used tablets from XP-pen. I also have used Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 to draw as well. Since I primarily use tablets to draw, I will be reviewing mainly based on that and not for other functions such as writing/note taking and gaming ( like how XP-pen is popular for use in games like OSU ) First of all the price point. Veikk’s pen is very affordable and costs less than Wacom’s weakest intuos ( which replaced their bamboo series?) which already is a nice advantage. Specs-wise, this tablet boasts over 8000 levels of pressure, which is nice if that’s something you’re looking for. To compare, this is closer to the next level of Wacom tablets (Intuos Pro). For me personally, if you do heavy illustration work, there is a difference, but if you’re looking for something for graphic work it’s not too big of a deal. Still, at this price it’s pretty nice? The feel of the tablet is matte which seems to be the direction most tablets are going these days? My intuos is an older model so it has that glossier/slippery surface but I recently got a XP-pen and they used a more matte surface. It does not imitate a paper texture though like how some newer wacoms(?). If you like drawing on something sleeker like an ipad pro or a surface, this might be an issue for you but for me it wasn’t too big of a deal. The pen comes with a few nibs and is pretty typical. I would’ve liked a grip or some sort but I guess you can always add one if that becomes an issue so it’s again, not too big of a deal. In conclusion. It’s a pretty nice tablet. I haven’t used it for very long but it’s affordable and nice to just carry around with a laptop or incase I want to use someone else’s computer to draw. I’d recommend it just based on great value for the price. It’s always nice to see more tablet developers and I’m interested in seeing how VEIKK’s tablets improve in the future. :)
