The filter is great. The steel containers are sturdy and the filter really does clean the water better than any other system I have used. But, I had a lot of problems with the rubber smell at first (like many other reviewers). The issue is the rubber stopper and washers they include with the system. The best thing to do is to throw them away and get silicone washers (just search online - impossible to find at hardware stores). I also just got 4 carbon filters instead of 2 (doing away with the need for the rubber stoppers) - more expensive but worth it (also it fills the tank much faster that way). I also got the stainless steel spigot from Berkey - well worth it (which comes with silicone washers). I really have no idea why they include these smelly rubber stoppers with the system! Priming the filters and cleaning the system is not a problem - there are several youtube videos on these. After the first month of trial and error, it has been perfect!
