I've been around babies long enough to know that some toys seem like a great idea and are wonderful at first, but they can quickly wear on you with their sounds, or can be boring. For this reason, it's hard to choose a toy like this online without hearing it for yourself... I made a short video for this review to allow you to see and hear just a bit of the capabilities and sound. I do like the ability to turn it on and off! Some toys with sound don't have this option, which is crazy and annoying and burns out the batteries. This also has the option for two different volume levels, which can help in the car or quiet living room vs. in a loud place where baby can't hear as well. The little grey slider bar at the bottom of the "screen" doesn't do anything - it's just for show. So don't think you have control over brightness, fast forwarding, locking, or refreshing - despite the fact that those indicators are printed there. Finally, the frustration-free instead of the standard packaging was great. I can't tell you how many times our kids received a gift, and then we had to snip an abundance of tough wires, ties, and/or tape to get it out of the package. The packaging for this makes it more fun right away for both the child and the parent when received as a gift!
