Zing is a decent, inexpensive vacuum.
I’ve had the Bissell Zing bagged cleaner for about a few months. My last canister vacuum was a Hoover PortaPower that lasted about 20 years. This was a great vacuum but the plastic attachments have been breaking and the suction is declining so I decided to replace it. I have a multi-pet household and I live on the coast with a fair amount of sand filtering into the house on feet and in the wind. As with any appliance there are pros and cons to the Bissell Zing. Pros: 1. Adjustable suction. I thought this would be a silly gimmick, but I find it useful. The lower settings allow me to vacuum light weight cat litter mats in place while the higher settings pick up spilled kibble easily. 2. On the lower settings, it’s not horribly loud. Even on the higher settings it’s a bit quieter than my old Hoover. 3. It’s easy to use and store. I like the retractable cord. 4. The wand is metal – nice and sturdy, and easily adjustable during use. 5. The vacuum head is easy to maneuver around hard floors. 6. The bag is a reasonable size that seems to last a couple of months (multi-pet and sand). 7. It has a couple of filters that I hope will extend the life of the motor. If my Hoover had these, I’d probably still be using that one. Cons: 1. The vacuum head is a little thick to fit under my stove, etc. 2. The tool holder is useless as it catches on furniture and falls off. 3. The tool holder doesn’t matter anyway because the crevice tool/dusting brush is laughably stupid and less than useless. I can’t imagine that anyone who has ever used a vacuum designed that ridiculous thing. I bought a universal fit brush for less than $10 that does the trick. The upholstery tool is quite small too. 4. The plastic hose that attaches to the nice metal wand is a bit cheap. It does seem to me that it will last several years though. 5. The bags are expensive. I almost didn’t get this vacuum because of the bag price, but I think it’ll be a trade-off for the cleaning efficiency of the vacuum. So in all, the pros outnumber the cons and the price is reasonable. Of course it was made in China so it’s cheaper than it need be. My biggest beef is with the stupid little bitty crevice/dusting tool. It’s too short and thick to actually get into any crevice and and you have to flip the brush around to use it. The brush is not only tiny and flimsy but at a 90 degree angle to the suction so that it would be awkward to use even if it were a good brush. Notice you will not find a picture of it anywhere. So here’s one I took. I ask you – what are you supposed to do with this thing? Overall, I'm fully expecting this to be a good vacuum for the money spent.
