Worked when I need it
It's been wickedly cold in Ohio (between 0 and -10 or so) for several days and my truck has been sitting outside - unstarted - for 2 straight days. So, it did not come as a shock when I went out this morning and found that it wouldn't crank. The battery wasn't completely dead, but it could barely turn a half-dozen times before just clicking. So, I grabbed another booster battery (a Halo Bolt) I keep in the truck for just such an occasion. No dice. Although fully charged, that one did nothing and wasn't able to start the truck. Fortunately, I purchased this GB70 to keep in my Camaro as a "just-in-case" option as it's rated for an 8-cylinder engine. I hadn't charged this in several months and it had been sitting in the trunk since I bought it, so I was skeptical. But it worked like a champ and fired up my 6-cylinder Ford Ranger immediately. The temp outside at the time was -2, so I can assure you that I was quite pleased. Overall, I give this 5-stars, but it does have some room for improvement. It took a second to figure out what the various LED's meant. I admit that I never bothered reading the manual, so it would be nice if there were some reference or simple instructions printed on the actual device. In my case, all the charge LED's were "chasing" each other, and I was concerned that meant there was a problem. However, that apparently means that it's ready to jump-start. Also, it did come with a storage bag, but I ended up also purchasing a zippered hard-case from Caseling. For almost $200, I'd rather it have a bit more protection that a soft bag offers. Those minor notes aside, however, this did exactly what I needed it to do, exactly when I needed it to do it, and in far less than ideal conditions. I'd definitely recommend spending the money and getting one of these.
