Don't give up yet!!! Programming fix!
OMG I tried for HOURS to get this to program. I googled it, YouTubed it, researched it. I searched for Harry Potter wand vs direct tv, genie remote. Seriously. THEN I FOUND THE ANSWER!!! If you have direct tv, or any kind of Radio Frequency (RF) remote - IT WILL NOT WORK! oh no! BUT - at least as far as direct tv's remote - you can change its program to Infrared (IF) through the menu and settings on the tv. It tells you how to do it on the screen. Once I did that the longest part was deciding what command I wanted for what gesture. God I wish someone else had written this down. Would have saved me literally 4-5 hours. Now it works great and can't wait for my son to open it on Christmas Day. Thank God we decided to program it prior to giving it to him!!! Would have given it 5 starts but it needs to be made more clear about the IF necessity for the remote control.
