Before this protector, I had a standard glossy screen protector. I could not see the screen at all in bright sunlight. The screen was a mess of streaks and fingerprints. Unlike some other reviewers, I had no problem following the manufacturer's instructions. I successfully got it installed on the first try. I find that this protector makes the screen viewable in bright sunlight. It's not perfect, but a significant improvement over zero visibility with the glossy protector. It is also very good at minimizing the finger prints and smudges. About all you see is some faint sort of shiny smudges occasionally. Perhaps some body oils build up? Wiping with a microfiber cloth puts it back to normal. I've only done that two or three times in 6 months. My favorite part is the smooth gliding feel under my finger. It is much better than the glossy type. I also have no issues with the viewing quality in normal circumstances. If anything I like it better than the previous glossy product I was using. I see no downside to this product especially at the low price of about $2.50 per sheet. Update 9/30/13 I just uploaded some photos of my iPhone 5 after it fell off my car as I backed out of the driveway. The phone landed face down on the concrete street and some small gravel and then I proceeded to run over it with the car before I could stop. I thought the phone was toast. When I got home I hit the button and the phone lit up. Wow! I removed the Otterbox Commuter case and the damaged Tech Armor Matte protector to find the phone completely undamaged. I was so amazed that even though I hated to admit to doing something dumb like leaving my phone laying on the car, I thought it was worthwhile to share the ruggedness of the Tech Armor (and the Otterbox obviously). Pretty good protection combination. I installed one of the spare Tech Armor protectors, cleaned up the Otterbox as best I could (including filing some rough spots smooth) and it's all good again. By the way, I just received my second order of the Tech Armor Matte protectors. After this episode a week or so ago, I decided to order another package in case I do something else dumb. :p Check out my photos.
