Better than Theragun G3 Pro at half the price
The Pulse FX percussion gun has everything. My local running store has about 6 models of percussion guns that customers can use, but I'm going to compare the Pulse FX to the top-of-the line competitor, the Theragun G3 Pro, which costs $600. The Pulse FX is a better gun for a fraction of the cost. Here's why and what I looked for when buying a massage gun. First, I wanted a gun with a good amplitude (the up and down distance of the massage head). Many guns have 10 mm or 12 mm amplitude while both the Pulse FX and Theragun G3 Pro have 16 mm (which is the highest I found). Higher amplitude makes the gun feel more like it's pulsing up and down and less like it is simply vibrating. Next, I wanted an ability to adjust speed. The Pulse FX has a 1800/2400/3000 RPM speed option while the G3 Pro only has 1750/2400. The Pulse FX is lighter (2.2 lbs vs. 3.1 lbs) and has a much longer battery life (6 hours vs. 75 minutes, which is why Theragun gives you two batteries, because they don't last as long, which means a lot more charging). Both guns have an adjustable angle to their arm, the Theragun Pro wins a little here with four positions but the Pulse FX has three positions (and the Theragun G3 that's not the pro version has none). They have a similar noise level (about 60-75 db), so the only place the Theragun G3 Pro is better is that it has one more adjustable angle 6 attachments vs. 4, but to me that isn't worth twice the price. The Pulse FX also comes with a lifetime warranty. So how is the gun to use? I also tried about 6 guns in total at my running store, and like the Theraguns, the Pulse FX is percussive, that is, it feels more like thumping and less like vibration than some of the other massage guns out there. Using it for just a couple of minutes each day on my hamstrings, glutes, and lower back has been super helpful in getting my muscles to release. I actually originally had the Sonic X gun from LifePro Fitness but I found I really wanted an adjustable arm for hard-to-reach areas and that I wanted a little more percussive feel which comes with the higher amplitude. The gun is easy to use, you just slide a power button to turn it on and punch a different button to increase the RPMs. The attachments pop in and out no problem. It comes with a charging station and carrying case. I usually don't write reviews but was really thrilled to find all the features I wanted for so much cheaper than other products.
