Good crib alternative with some minor design flaws
Edit:
Adding comment from the manufacturer in regards to canopy noise (see the 6sec video I uploaded) I thought it may be just mine but it appears all canopies will do that.
Babytrend: I was able to have the video review. This is the normal function of the canopy. We checked the other models and in order to get the canopy to rotate they all make the same sound. I do apologize for any dissatisfaction with the design.
Features:
-2 Levels, mid or bottom. Mid level is great for newborn babies who don’t move much or roll and perfect for moms who just went through childbirth. Your back and bottom will thank you as it is extremely hard to bend all away down to pick up the baby several times a day after your body just went through childbirth. Once the baby gets older it’s easy to adjust and drop the mattress to the bottom. I find padding a bit firm so we ordered separate mattress and sheet that fits perfectly. Sheet keeps the mattress in place so there is no concern of the baby somehow rolling under the mattress.
-Changing table. This table is my favorite feature as you can hold the baby with one hand and set the table on or take it off with the other hand, just flip it. It has safety straps to secure the child. There is absolutely no need to buy a separate changing table, this works perfect.
**CONCERN: Can’t remove the fabric to clean. With my old pack n play I removed the entire table attachment and washed it with water hose, BAD IDEA. The insert inside the fabric got soaked and broke a half (probably cardboard) leaving me with the flimsy table. This time around I will be using large changing pads that can cover entire table so no worry about stains.
-Canopy – is the reason I chose this one over the version with basinet. With my first we didn’t use basinet. I wanted the canopy to protect the baby head and ears from non-stop running AC at summer time as our AC is really close to the baby. Fabric part of canopy can be removed by unzipping the zipper leaving you with the “bridge” part and couple small toys hanging above baby head. Removing entire canopy is quite easy too, see photos.
**CONCERN: Moving canopy back and forth comes with the horrid and loud sound that will most definitely wake up the baby. See 6Sec video I uploaded and decide for yourself.
- 2 storage areas. There is removable diaper caddy that holds large pack of wipes, big stack of diapers (day supply at least), bibs, burp clothes, gripe water, gas drops, whatever you need handy. It can be placed on the left or right side of pack n play. It can also be attached to the dresser drawer. Secondary storage space comes in the form of 3 large fabric pockets on the side and under the changing table. It can take a lot (see pic), I use it for my pumping supplies for now. With all the storage space provided I don’t need much of drawer space, very pleased there.
- Portable and easy to assemble, great alternative for crib. It has wheels so it can be pushed around. My first baby slept in his pack n play until 10 months old, he was also long baby and always above 95 percentile. Lightweight to carry around for visiting family or traveling. We take this with us even for day trips. We took on vacation and the airline checked it in at no cost, even took it to the beach.
Overall, great alternative for crib, very functional. Once the baby outgrows it can be used as a toy storage bin. It does come with a couple minor design flaws (inability to clean changing table and canopy noise).
**Personal note. I really try my best with the baby reviews, I wish I had this information when I was a first time mom. I hope sharing my experience will help you make the best decision for your family <3 Happy shopping and happy parenting!
