Great vegetable protein... clean stuff from Canada
I wanted a vegetable protein, but not green pea (or nuts- peanut) so this yellow pea protein fit my needs. Peas grown in Canada and milled in the US according to the manufacturer with no loops in China, fwiw. No dairy, gluten or soy. Tests according to the manufacture for Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead, Mercury indicate low (<0.02 mcg) which to me are low, but I'm not sure what normal levels are in normal, such as normal ground water contamination. The tests were done by labs outside the company, Covance and Eurofins, which are respected labs in the Pharmaceutical industry and for drugs, methods accepted by the FDA. The gluten results are lower than those specified by the FDA as "gluten free".
Nutritional (scoop = 3.5 tbsp (26 gm): 15 gm (2%) fat, 0 gm cholesterol, 90 mg Sodium, 35 mg Potassium.
My use is to make protein shakes/smoothies. All veg proteins are a little gritty/chalky. This product is less so than the Terrasoul brand (to me anyway). I find it has little taste or smell when blended, and it is unsweetened. For the smoothies I mix with carob (Terrasoul) hemp milk (unsweetened) banana (or some other fruit), sugar free vanilla, sometimes add coffee (it is the morning smoothie). I think this smoothie comes in at ~120 cal. Sore smoothie in refrigerator in 8 oz plastic containers for ~ 1 week.
Store powder in the plastic resealable bag it comes in. So far ~ 2 months and seems fine, no clumping or smell.
Overall happy with this product.
