Works as advertised. Nothing less, nothing more. Begginers: Yes; Professionals: No
I purchased this keyboard as an absolute beginner to learn to play on as an adult. Knowing I would have limited time to practice I was looking for an affordable option that would not break the bank. After reading other reviews this seemed to be a viable option so I pulled the trigger. So keep in mind that my review comes from the position of an absolute beginner and here are my thoughts...
This keyboard is a good option for a beginner to learn on before moving on to a more expensive option if you decide you do enjoy the hobby. The keyboard works exactly as advertised. Nothing more, nothing less. I do feel like anyone with experience playing on a nicer or professional keyboard would not enjoy playing on this one as the keys have a "toy like" feel and spring to them. But overall everything works as it should. I'm not overly blown away, but it gets the job done. I feel certain this will be all the keyboard I need to learn how to properly play music. With that said I will finish off with some pro's and con's.
Pro's:
-Comes with a fairly sturdy stand, nice seat, decent head phones and mic (have not used the mic)
-Lots of different options as far as instruments and backup beats to choose from
-Decent sounding speakers if you choose not to use the headphones
-Keys are easy to play and move freely
-Good beginner setup to learn on
-works as advertised
-items were well packaged
Con's:
-My biggest Con - DOES NOT COME WITH A 10v POWER ADAPTER. There IS a place to plug in a power adapter on the back of the keyboard yet it did NOT come with one in the box. I had to find one from another appliance I had around the house. Yes, you can use this keyboard with batteries but it did not come with those either. I feel like most people would rather plug it in then use batteries. My opinion would have been to leave the mic out and include a power adapter. I think more people would use the adapter then the mic.
-keys seem very toy like. They have a spring like feel to them and are a little noisy
-the music sheet holder sits in the rail very loosely so if you bump it at all it will fall off. Anything heavy falls off.
-when the instrument is set to standard piano, low keys sound fine but the high keys sound a little off, a little digital (no pun intended)
-the on/off button is like something off of an early 1980s toy. It is not a huge deal but it does seem like the one thing that is out of place
If they would have included a power adapter and the keys had just slightly better feel, I would have given 5 stars. In the end though I would recommend this for a beginner.
