I read through most of the reviews to get an idea how how this would fit. Normally I order a large from these cheap asian companies, because I know they run small. I am, at this point, somewhere probably between a medium and large (sm/md for am. sizing), so it can really go either way, but I'd prefer it a little big than a little small.
I actually Really like this top, but there are some things worth mentioning for the persnickety expecting Chanel at Dollar Tree Pricing.:
1. the material is different. I was expecting it to be a different "chiffon" than what it usually comes when that's what it's called - this is more like a silky polyester than the grainy polyester. The grain is lengthwise and thin, and the shirt is very soft to the touch. A little shiny. will probably end up being a little hot in the direct hot summer sun, but no duh - cheap shirt, cheap fabric.
2. the pattern and color is off. I expected the pattern to not be the same as its an inconsistent pattern - the only reason I mention it, is is that more of the birds are upside down on mine. As for the color, it's just barely offwhite - I would call it plain white, the colors are very bright and vivid - again, expected, but worth mentioning.
3. yes, it's a little see-through. But I'm wearing a nude bra with it, and you can't see squat, so no need to wear a shirt underneath unless you are REALLY modest or paranoid.
4. it's a little big.
it does actually fit almost how it does in the picture - but slightly bigger. the neck is wider, and the body width is wider, so the sleeves hang a little differently. I'm not sure that the next size down wouldn't be too form-fitting though, so I'm totally happy with it.
5. the shape is a basic box with sleeves. Yes, this is how it's supposed to be cut. yes, that means its not very long (hit my hips, and I'm a short-torso).
6. there are little pin-prick-sized dye dots all over where the print-press must have dripped or something. they aren't noticeable, but the first time you seem them, you might mistake them for food drips. they're not. and the more you look for them, the more you'll find, so DON'T.
it is surprisingly well stitched, but also very simply stitched (straight-line stitching for the most part). To get the cuff-sleeve look, there's a straight line of stitching that goes halfway down the fold dead-center in the Front, which shows the shirt's cheaper quality, but I mean COME ON - IT'S 4 DOLLARS. No DUH it's not designer quality.
very comfortable, obviously breathes well. I'm actually wearing it right now. Definitely looks better tucked in v. outside, but I think its probably wearable either way.
Anyway, there were other patterns I liked as well, so contemplating getting more. May get one that's the next size down just to see the difference - if I do, will totally update with a comparison.
Did I mention that it came in like a week!?
