I bought this four months ago for my Maltese puppy. I was initially using gates to confine him because I didn't want to crate him and to top it off, I do not like the way the traditional crate looks. But he would either climb through the gates or over them. So I needed a solution. Stumbled upon this and I loved the way it looked. I was hesitant at first about spending so much money for a crate/ playpen, but I needed something to contain my puppy. When it arrived and I was setting it up, I thought it was flimsy, and I was thinking about returning it. The screws didn't seem to screw all the way in, and the metal part of it isn't made of heavy duty metal, like the "traditional dog crate". Also, the plastic bars are made of cheap light plastic. To top it off, it was shaky. Despite all that, after 2 days of having it I decided to keep it. It's everything that I wanted. It looks really really good in my apartment. It's very attractive, my puppy loves it and it's super easy to clean. It's also big enough for him to have his food bowl, bed and play area. It's like his own apartment, in our apartment. One of the best feature is that the door slides, so he can't lock himself out. I find that it's sturdier with the mesh top strapped on. Bottom line is that this playpen will serve it's purpose for a puppy or a small dog. So for that, I give it 5 stars. Just wanted to touch on those negative points so you can have an idea of what to expect. I've attached pictures so you can have a visual....my puppy is 5.2 pounds, plenty of room for him. Oh, and he has not been able to escape. Hope this was helpful to someone
