This thing is a good improvment over the 500 series. It has the aerovac setup. It will vacuum and re dock itself when it is done with the room. I recommend using it when you are not around, as it is seems like it follows you around otherwise. It will not run off strairs, or suck up cords. This model will go over floor objects that the 500 series would not. Like rugs, floor registers, carpet edge strips in doorways etc.. It is like a 4x4 for the carpet world. It got stuck on me once and it will shut down if it can not get itself unstuck. It is pretty hard for it to get stuck. If it sucks up a cord it will stop , reverse the brushes and back away. There are a lot of improvments over the 500 series. Do your homework to see all the little options that each has. Even lowest model of 600 is better than the best 500. It might not have all the add on accessories, but its general function is better.
