Here's why I give it an overall score of 4/5. All in all, for the price, it's a good product. Relative value it what it's all about, and there is certainly value here. First of all, the size I ordered was a twin, for my almost 6 year old. Secondly, the box came in a 20-25 lb box, about 42x13x13 inches. The packaging was filthy, but that's okay because... Good feature 1: The internal packaging was very good, I mean it was rolled in thick plastic, and there were 3 layers at least Make sure to NOT unroll this until you have moved the item to the bedroom it'll go in. Why? Because once it's opened, it'll be far bigger and harder to move around, whereas in the plastic package it's as easy to move as a heavy rolled up sleeping bag. Good feature 2: The funky smell that comes with most foam beds was barely noticeable, barely there at all. And in 24 hours it was gone. Good feature 3: The bed really is a full 9" thick. The corners weren't 9 inches thick, nor much of the edges, but I'll get into that later. Good feature 4: Within 10 minutes, it had expanded into it's full size. It has not expanded a bit further since then, but it hasn't needed to. Good feature 5: It feels even, no lumps or bumpiness, again, other than the edges Here's where it's less than ideal. There were some issued with even-ness at the edges and corners. And the bed was spotty/dirty in places. Bad feature 1: The corners were not ideal, far from it. In fact, it was as though some of the corners of the foam in the bed under the corners, were cut too small, so it was like chunks of the foam were missing - not huge amounts, but look at the pics. Bad feature 2: There was some dirt and dirtiness here and there on the bed. Not the top, which was obvious as an area they kept clean, but the edges and corners had dirt on them, some stains. Bad feature 3: The edges were uneven, and when a person keeps getting out of bed over and over in the mornings, I think it'll get even more mushy on the edges. Still I recommend. It was $149 shipped, and I think it'll give us 3-4 years of use, which gives an annual usage cost of 38-50 bucks, which I think is reasonable. I'm glad I got this.
