Easy, cheap sprouts, even for the lazy!
I wish I could give this a 4.5! I love it! (it is not perfect, but nothing is!) I always buy sprouts, but the cost ($5+ a pop), plus the fact that not many places near me carry them, plus the fact that it's hard to find variety, was driving me nuts. I looked at the jar method, and the many complaints/problems/stress (I'm sure there is a learning curve and I'd get better, but I was trying for EASY here, I'm lazy) made me think no way I'm ever sprouting. For some reason, on a whim, after some wine, I bought this. I figured under $20, no big loss. Bought a huge bag of sprout seeds on here from the sprout people. It's amazing. soak a spoonful of seeds, throw them in the tray, rinse/pour water twice a day.. boom, awesome sprouts, for pennies. I pour some water in the morning when I get coffee/breakfast, and at night when I'm doing dinner. flip the bottom tray to the top, drain some water. every 2 days, I add another tray, so I have a rotating crop ( I didn't want 4 crops of sprouts all ready at once! Easy peasy. Best part? Dishwasher safe top rack, so I know they are clean/sterilized, so easy. try and do less seeds then you think.. I do a scant T. Bigger seeds (mung and garbanzo/big beans) a full T. is fine, but those tiny, tiny alfalfa can get a bit crowded with a full T., so go under for the first few times, if you can. The pic is of alfalfa (a tad crowded- full T) and a mung bean/garbanzo mix, both in the 3-4 day range!
