I'll start off by letting you know that I've never cut my Labs nails and always left it up to the groomer to handle. It's been some time since he's last been and his nails were looking really long. Seeing/reading about the need to be careful not to cut the internal nerve, when cutting a dog's nails, had me very worried when thinking of attempting that myself. I figured a machine like this would be easier and boy is it! The machine fits well in your hands and the motor is extremely quiet and smooth! I did perform the suggested method of turing the machine on near my dog for about 5 mins and I must say he wasn't too hesitant. I think the initial feeling is what worried him more, but once I got to the third nail, he was much calmer. I feel very confident when using this tool and it'll definitely be used, moving forward, to keep his nails properly trimmed. It's been used about 3 times since I bought it and put it to charge once just because. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for an easy and safe experience, for both you and your pet, when trimming nails without any prior knowledge.
