I'm a software developer, and I've been able to evaluate these headphones in two different office environments. The first one was a very small space in which our misguided CTO thought it would be cool and productive to fit as many people as possible. He was loud and kind of dorky and pretty much the main reason I had for buying these headphones. I couldn't swing a more expensive pair, so I went with these, based on the good reviews I'd read. In a small room with a Loud Howard type, I don't think earplugs or any noise canceling headphones could totally block out ambient noise (ridiculously talking about every. single. thing). These did help somewhat to dampen the volume of the incessant conversations happening around me. Now I'm in a different environment with cubicles. Not totally sequestered, but segmented in 3-sided cubicles and slightly more private. Here, these headphones are pretty wonderful. I can almost completely tune out from other folks' conversations, and sometimes people have to nudge the back of my chair to even get my attention. They are pretty comfortable. I don't have a freakishly large head and I can wear these for a couple hours at a time. Then I give my ears a bit of a rest for a few minutes before putting them back on. The battery life is pretty amazing. I have yet to run the battery down, but I put the headphones on a charger pretty much every evening when it's time to go home. I would buy these again. And I might... then I could have a pair at home, as well.
