Video!
UPDATE: ---------------------
This thing is not even CLOSE to "Weather proof/Splash proof" or "Water resistant" as listed. Mine is dead after just a spray of water while on a boat... :( Be careful! While the back cap seemed to seal fine, water seeped in through the lens.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: ------------
Not a bad little camera! Takes decent photos (better than many smartphones) and very nice video. Tried it out as a dashboard camera and was pleasantly surprised with the smooth video and nice audio.
Some FYI details:
*Double-tapping the button starts a video, so even with a high-speed memory card you can't shoot pictures much faster than 1 pic per second without starting a video instead.
*Video is recorded in .MOV format. That's an Apple format, so doesn't always play nice with PCs. It can easily be uploaded to YouTube or Facebook though. Download VLC if you have trouble playing it or have no sound.
*Videos are broken into 5 minute seamless clips.
*Both 720p and 1080p video files are ~290 MB. Both are recorded at 30 fps and I think have the same video bitrate--the difference is in the audio quality. 1080p video drops down to 4-bit audio, while 720p uses 16-bit.
EDIT: 1080p possibly uses more efficient compression also?
*Roughly 106 video clips will fit on a 32 GB memory card--that's almost 9 hours total. (But just 90 minutes per charge.)
*Leave the back cover off and you can charge while recording video or taking pictures (good as a dash cam). Disconnecting the power does not stop video recording. You can NOT record anything while plugged into your computer though.
*The packaging includes a little metal plate to hold the camera in place by it's magnet--peel it off and re-stick on a smooth surface to use as a mount (or just duct tape it to anything).
