This little “washing machine” litter box is a win! I just got it setup and, compared to the Litter Robot, it’s better in every measurable way that I can see. It’s definitely a next-gen smart litter box that seems to be more advanced. Pros: Fit and finish is exceptional - the materials that petkit chose for surfaces that need to be cleaned, how things click together, the overall design and finish, etc. You can see that they put a lot of thought into product design. Quiet (vs litter robot and in general) - while not silent, this thing is pretty darn quiet. And certainly quieter than the Litter Robot. Seriously for the first few months with the Litter Robot, my gf and I would end up looking at each saying “what is that noise?” only to realize it was the LR across the house doing its thing. I can’t even hear the Petkit in the next room. Tech - The tech on this thing is frankly amazing - I mean it friggin weighs your cat. The app’s configuration / customization settings are awesome. The interface is intuitive, this really is next level. Next I need to see if it will interface with my Homeassistant instance :) Responsiveness - It just move faster. After my cat used it pretty much instantly after I set it up (she’s like that) every time it would start to cycle she would curiously walk back and peek in to take a look. The Pet kit would pause as she walked up, then quickly resume when she became disinterested. This quickness just feels like a better design, and works to get a cycle completed quicker which I like. Air freshener - I think another reviewer mentioned it seems a little gimmicky. While true, it does work and I’m a fan. It comes with a starter bottle of freshner but we’ll probably replace it with febreze or something when needed. Cons: Size - Could be a little tight for larger cats, my cats are average size females so they fit fine. I have a ferrel tomcat that comes around and he would probably be cramped if we ever got him to use this. Overall the Petkit is smaller but generally the same size as the Litter Robot, but the litterbox area certainly feels smaller. Price - These smart catbox thingers sure are expensive. It’s hard to swallow this price point for what it does (especially after burning 500+ on Litter Robot) but if it solves the problem then I’ll pay what I need to! Hopefully it withstands the test of time. Summary I may be a little bit salty based on my experience over the last year with litter robot - I’ve had nothing but problems with it - but this is a flat out better execution of this style catbox. I know Litter Robot has a lot of fans out there, that’s why I went for it in the first place, but this feels like the next evolution of the design. I’m not sure yet how it will stand up, but so far it looks like smooth sailing. Speaking to my past-self while in search of a replacement: get it, you won’t regret it!
