Required only the 4 legs to be attached, which was a very easy task. Had it together, and fire started in about 10-20 minutes. My wife had researched and settled on this one due to its good reviews. We were not disappointed. The build quality is good, and the unit is very sturdy. The feature that I would like to mention above all is that the cover actually fits the inside diameter of the firepit body. This makes it impossible for the cover to accidentally slide off, or be knocked off onto nearby sitters. Other very shallow firepits often have spark lids that won't sit nicely after a few logs are added...as they are two shallow to dome over the wood. In this pit, the wood goes down in the body of the firepit, and the lid slides down inside the firepit to sit on top of the wood. Personally, I find that to be the best part of the design. Especially with young kids around, and wanting to keep sparks and popping embers inside the pit. Last note to mention is that the underside of this firepit does get very hot, and will scorch unprotected grass underneath. So if you love your lawn, plan accordingly.
