I picked this guy up because my wife had been complaining that her old dock wasn't cutting it, and it really just didn't have enough I/O. This thing works like a charm. The cable is long enough that she can put her computer almost anywhere on her desk. She has two 27 inch Dell monitors with USB 3.0 ports on the sides and this device has two 3.0 ports on the back and two on the front so plugging in thumb drives or hard drives is a breeze and they work at full speed. I also have a PC set up as a home server on a 1GbE network and the wired networking capabilities are as stated - large file transfers happen at a gigabit a second. We haven't tested the 18 watt port yet as she doesn't have a cable capable of 18 watt charging. I can't wait to indoctrinate her to the cult of fast charging (my Android phone charges at 30 watts - it's amazing). We'll get there one day. She hasn't had need of the SD card slots...yet. She has a DSLR camera that she loves using on road trips. Those card readers will be really handy for that once we go on our next trip. I guess what I'm trying to say is you get A LOT of connectivity in a relatively small package. My only knock is the glossy finish. It shows some mad dust. Also, the logo could have been printed upside down on the other side of the plug. If you plug this into the left side of your laptop, the logo is either upside down or on the other side. Minor stuff I'm not knocking stars off for because this thing looks pretty good, works perfectly, is full of features, is a single cable connection to dock and charge your Macbook at the same time, and was comparatively inexpensive. Solid product.
