I bought these as a set of headphones to use at work specifically because they are not the inner ear style. I like to listen to music while I work, however I work in an environment where I need to be aware of who and what is around me, so I did not want too much isolation, but I also don't want to walk around with big over ear headphones on so the older style earbuds fit the bill well. There are not many choices from the "top manufacturers" in this type of earbud, with most of them coming from the Chinese market. I had used Edifier speakers a few times before and was impressed with their quality, plus the price was right, so decided to give them a shot, not disappointed that I did. I have never been a huge fan of this style of earbud, however these ones are actually quite comfortable (I use them without the foam), and they don't fall out of my ears as easily as most. I don't have a ton of points of comparison, but I have a pair of old apple earbuds, and an old pair of sennheiser earbuds here, and I prefer these to either of them. They are more comfortable than both and they stay in much better than either. I also like the inline control (works fine with my Samsung Galaxy S5) so I can quickly pause the track to talk to a co-worker without having to take my phone out of my pocket. Sound quality is fine, about what you can expect from this type of headphone. I again prefer it to either the apple or sennheiser examples I have to compare with. The bass is there, but not overpowering, and the treble is clear, without being sibilant (the really annoying/painful frequencies on "S" sounds). It won't blow you away or anything, but it is pleasing to listen to, and fantastic for the price. I was NOT given a sample for this review, and paid full price for my product.
