I have a 100lb dog. The first day I got the grinder, I left it in the "on" position on the floor next to him for 20 min. He wasn't too sure about the funny vibration it made and eyed it warily. The second day I did the same thing then picked it up, with the cap on, and gently touched it to his haunches so he could feel the vibration. Again he wasn't too sure about it. With the cap on, I picked up his front paw, secured the nail between my 2 fingers and touched the capped grinder to his nail. He looked at me like I was nuts. The entire time I spoke softly and gently to him. I then removed the cap and gently touched the grinder to his nail for only a second. He flinched a little but didn't pull his paw away. I then proceeded to grind only 1 nail in quick gentle strokes. Success!!! No angry dog! I will proceed with each nail a day at a time until he gets used to the feeling. I've attached before picture.
