Initially frustrated, eventually sorted out with easy set up
So for everyone having trouble with assembly, I had the same issue - the clips didn't fit around the poles, if you slid the shelf down on them, they'd break apart and the shelf would fall, exact set of complaints the 1 star reviews are stating. I was just about to return it, assuming I had a faulty batch of clips, when I thought I'd give it one more go and finally figured it out. The holes for each pole on the shelves are a little wider on one end, allowing the clips and pole to slide in, but smaller on the other side, so the poles and clips won't slide out. So if you try to put the shelf on "upside down" where it's somewhat recessed, the clips won't fit in the smaller hole. If you flip the shelf around, where there's no lip to the shelf once installed, it works fine, super easy to set up - like all the 5 star reviews are saying.
It's a "duh" moment after the fact, but man did it piss me off until I sorted it. Hope everyone see this so they can get it figured out as well.
