like if it was an emergency and I needed to ...
I just recently potty trained my daughter and I wanted to make sure that when we went out anywhere I would have a way for her to use the bathroom. Initially I bought it for the stand alone feature, like if it was an emergency and I needed to pull over for her to go to the bathroom I could. Turns out I never had to use it for this reason yet, which I am absolutely ok with.
I have used it in MANY times in public bathrooms. I was a little hesitant that it wouldn't work in certain situations, but I was wrong. I have used it in park bathrooms that have no actual lift up seat on them, I have used in in port-a-potties, and I have used it in normal bathrooms. It fits great in all these circumstances. An unexpected plus is that my daughter likes to hold the side of the toilet seat when she goes to the bathroom and its nice because she can actually put her hands on the flip out legs and I don't have to worry about her touching the public bathroom at all.
And lastly, when you take your kid to the restroom, you might as well go too. Well, I was in a hurry to use the bathroom because I just wanted to get my kid out of there before she touched everything after she went, so I didn't bother to put the potty seat away, I just used it too. And I gotta say, it was so much better than squatting or putting my own butt on the public seat! Only slightly embarrassed for having used it! :)
