excellent Waterflosser but requires some changes to be done
I have mine for 2 years and it is working perfectly, but only after having done 2 changes to it. The advantage of this flosser compared to electrical flossers, is that there is no place inside where a pump is pushing water out. Therefore it is very difficult for water remaining inside and becoming unhealthy. This was the reason I tried this flosser as so many times I have read comments about people being horrified about mold that was inside their electrical flossers. Nevertheless I always let the water flow through it for a few seconds before starting to clean my teeth, just to be sure any water from previous use is washed out. I must say that after 2 month I experienced the same problem as many people state here with the connector which was not able any more to hold the pressure and then the hose came off all the time and made this flosser useless. However as I found this flosser so good except the connector blowing off (because of pressure), I tried to find a way to improve it and I did. 1) the first change I had done to this flosser was the following: for me the water jet was too fine and strong, and therefore it hurt my gums and left them bleeding a lot. To improve this, I used a very small drill and low speed drill machine and increased the whole of the tip (about twice the diameter of the existing whole in the tip) at the place where water comes out. This had as effect that the pressure for the gums was now OK, cleaned much faster and more effectively my teeth as the jet was larger and at the same time also making an incredibly good massage for my gums. Even after having increased the whole in the tip, the pressure was a bit too much for my gums and therefore I use position 3 of the blue pressure button on the flosser. Position 4 is too strong for me and position 2 is not strong enough for cleaning well the teeth and massage of my gums. 2) So after 2 month when the connector got weak and was going loose under the high water pressure, I tried to figure out why it was working fine for a certain time and all over suddenly didn't any more. As you know the white connector has 2 springs, one with a diameter of a finger and a very small one (located under the grey hose release button), and this spring is not even the size of the yellow part of a match. It is this one which is quite small that becomes tired and therefore after some time (1 to 3 month) usually can't stand the water pressure any longer. Now there is a very easy trick to work around this problem. You can take a hook in L form which has a diameter of about 3 mm and push it in on either side beside the small spring between the grey button and white plastic (all this to be done on the connector and after the flosser has been connected, but before water being opened). This will block the grey button and prevent the connector from getting loose. When finished washing your teeth, just remove the hook, then the flosser from the connector and that's it. In fact rather than using a hook, I use a small piece of plastic which I tailored exactly to my needs and which I found in my tool box and which happened to have an L form and is about 2x7 mm long and has approx 3 mm diameter. I even adapted this piece of plastic with a nail file (a small metal file could also do the job) to the exact size to fit between the grey button and the white plastic. I use this piece now for over 2 years and problems due to too much pressure for the spring are solved this way. Hope this will help to valorize this product. If any one wants pictures of the changes I have done, please forward your email and I will forward the pictures. I would put pictures here, but I am not sure this is possible. By the way, I also have 2 electrical flossers, one Oral B and one Waterpik. But I prefer this flosser as cleaning wise the 3 are more or less similar, but this one has an incredible advantage compared to the 2 others. In fact when I washed my teeth with the electrical ones late in the evening, most of the times my wife woke up because of the noise and I got told off. Our bathroom is next to the bedroom. This flosser is also more handy. No more filling of bucket required.
