EFFECTIVE FOR SHORT TERM ONLY
This was helpful for stress induced and menopausal insomnia symptoms for me but after taking it for a few months virtually nightly I developed heart palpitations, mild hypertension and slight cardiac related vertigo.
I intuitively knew it was the ashwaganda. Stopped it and with about 2 days those symptoms resolved BUT insomnia started returning.
I've since started using valerian root tincture for the past 3 nights and that's helping, but it's not safe to use most herbs or adaptogens continuously forever, so I'm researching to see what herbs or homeopathics I can use together or separate and maybe rotate them.
I also notice my diet is a factor in sleep quality for me as well. Gluten, sugar, animal protein seem to exacerbate insomnia for me, as well as eating less than 3 hrs before bed, working out too hard, using electronics (computer) less than 3 hours before bed all seem to negatively sleep.
Things that also help are putting phone on airplane mode, turning off wifi router in house at night, and using blue light blockers after sundown if I'm on the computer.
Alcohol used to greatly impact sleep quality for me but I quit that several months ago, which helped, but these other factors still play a role.
Also limit social media and at all times avoid mainstream and political news! Most of it is fake and ALL of it is designed to generate fear stress people out.
I'm starting an evening wind down routine which includes breathing, stretching and relaxation meditation, will see how that goes.
Menopause is no fun y'all. Advice to younger women-ditch the abusive relationships, not kidding. Keep your weight in a healthy range. That means not fat, regardless of political correctness. Don't eat sugar, gluten, alcohol. Exercise daily but not too intensely. Forgive those whose hurt you.
Sleep is becoming more challenging for everyone as wifi and 5G/6G ramps up, which is why paying attention to healthy lifestyle more important than ever.
