Comparison of knee pillows: InteVision, Cushy Cloud, Med-X, and Cushy Form
This is a review comparing the differences between InteVision, Cushy Cloud Wellness, Med-X, and Cushy Form knee pillows. I tried to label the photographs so you know which is which. The stack of books used to compress the pillows are 8.8 lbs. I also took measurements and photos of when you immediately put the pillow between your legs, then after a minute of sitting there as the pillow slowly compresses. These measurements are rough estimates and I’m just measuring the visible gap. Please look at photos to see this. InteVision: InteVision Knee Pillow with High Quality, 400 Thread Count, 100% Egyptian Cotton Cover Dimension is: 11” x 7.5” x 8.75” Compressed with books: 11” x 4.5” x 8.75” (compresses 2 full inches) When immediately put knees on pillow: < 2” After a minute of knees resting on pillow (compresses): 0” This knee pillow is made of foam with a very loose fitting white zip off cover. The foam somewhat feels like memory foam (i.e. it holds it’s form for a little), but not a super stiff memory foam. As you can tell from the compression differences, this pillow compresses a bunch. The pillow is about the same size as the Y pillow. This pillow didn’t feel like much of an upgrade from a regular bed pillow. My knees start touching within a minute of sitting on the pillow, causes pain on my knee bones where they touch. You lose all alignment in the lowerback/hip region, which most people use the knee pillows for. I find myself taking the pillow and putting it directly on knee joint while sleeping to prop my knee up. This works, fairly well, so if you still want a cheap pillow, this will work in that format. This is the softest of the pillows tested. 2 out of 5 stars Cushy Cloud: Memory Foam Knee Pillow For Amazing Pain Relief by Cushy Cloud - Most Comfortable Orthopedic Leg Positioner Contour Knee Spacer Best Pillows Dimension is: 11” x 7” x 8.75” Compressed with books: 11” x 6.125” x 8.75” (compresses .875” or 7/8” of an inch) When immediately put knees on pillow: 2.5” After a minute of knees resting on pillow (compressed): <1” This knee pillow is also made of a memory foam with a form fitting fleece type of material that is easy to remove. The knee pillow was firmest of all the pillows tested. It held its shape really well when used. It is the largest knee pillow out of the bunch. Even after a few minutes of sitting under knees, it still keeps a space between my knees. I like this pillow because it keeps your alignment in your legs and lower back. However, I toss and turn a lot while I sleep. The material of this pillow catches on my sheets, making me get caught up in the sheets throughout the night. Additionally, I am small framed (5’5, 110lbs) and I like to curl up like a ball most the time when I sleep. This pillow is TOO firm and big for me that when I am in this position, it presses against the back of my calves making me uncomfortable. Finally, I dislike the feeling of the zipper on this pillow. It feels really rough, almost like velcro. I often try to warm my hands up between my legs when I sleep, and I constantly brush against the zipper. The zipper is along the long side and bottom side of pillow. If faced in a specific direction, this shouldn’t be a problem. Again I toss and turn and the pillow never stays right side up. Overall, this pillow is just too big and a little too firm for me. However, if you are bigger than I am and need something with great support, this is the winner of the three pillows. 4 out of 5 stars Med-X: Knee Pillow Pain Relief For Sciatic Nerve , Leg , Back , Pregnancy - Memory Foam Wedge With Breathable Cover Dimension is: 10” x 6.5” x 8” Compressed with books: 10.25” x 5.5” x 8” (compresses 1 inch) When immediately put knees on pillow: 2.5” After a minute of knees resting on pillow (compressed): < 1” This third pillow is the smallest out of the three also made out of memory foam with a removable white cover. This has a medium firmness. It isn’t as firm as Cushy Cloud pillow, but has a lot more support than InteVision pillow. After I use the pillow for a few minutes, it still keeps my knees spaced apart. It is a little softer that when I curl up into a ball, it doesn’t press against my calfs causing me irritation. This was honestly the last of the three pillows I slept with. I went to bed, and when I woke up, I knew this was the one. It just has the perfect balance of support but softness, I don’t notice it when I’m sleeping, and I am able to toss and turn all night without feeling like I’m getting tangled in blankets. Now this is the smallest out of the three, so it may be a little too small for some. For my size, it was perfect. 5 out of 5 stars Overall, I am sticking with the Med-X pillow. The Cushy Cloud was a close second because of its great support, but it is just a bit too big and firm for me, and I dislike other little things stated above. Cushy Form: Sciatic Nerve Pain Relief Knee Pillow - Best for Pregnancy, Hip, Leg, Knee, Back & Spine Alignment - Memory Foam Wedge Leg Pillow with Washable Cover (White, Standard) Dimension is: 9.75” x 5.5” x 8.5” Compressed with books: 9.75” x 5” x 8.5” (compresses .5 inch) When immediately put knees on pillow: 2” After a minute of knees resting on pillow (compressed): 1.5” This pillow is as wide as the Cushy Cloud pillow, but a little shorter. It is also made with a memory foam and the cover is removable. The pillow comes with a plastic travel case for your travel needs. The Cushy Form is very firm, similar to the Cushy Cloud. I believe it actually keeps it shape a little better than the Cushy Cloud. As you can see, when I place 8.8 lbs of books on both the Cushy Cloud and the Cushy Form, the Cushy form only compresses 1/2 an inch while the Cushy Cloud compresses 7/8 of an inch. This pillow does really well to keep your knees apart, which helps to keep everything aligned. Same as the Cushy Cloud, this pillow was too wide that when I crawl up into a ball, the pillow jabs into the back of my calves. Now this pillow has softer curved edges than the Cushy Cloud, and it doesn’t have a fabric that tends to grab onto the sheets. So the Cushy Form is better in those aspects, but it still “feels” like it is a little too big with my small frame. It is only 1/2” larger than the Med-X, but I still prefer the Med-X over this one, but just slightly. Personally, I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars, but for someone with a larger frame, you might really like the support and size! Since 4.5 isn’t possible, I will round up to a 5.
