I’m 5’9 and 180 lbs and I currently wear a 12/14 in most pants (34in waist, 47in hips). I purchased the XX-Large to give myself more room, and they fit perfectly! The compression isn’t too extreme— they’re very comfortable. The black with pockets is very opaque, so you shouldn't have any problem with them being see-through while you're exercising. They’re also pretty good for wearing under dresses. The waistband doesn't roll down, even while stretching/jumping around, and the legs don't roll up (!!) which is pretty awesome for shorts like this. The pockets are big enough for an iPhone, but not quite big enough to fit a water bottle if you're regularly trying to fit water bottles in your pocket. :P If you found my review helpful, I'd be super grateful if let Amazon know by clicking the 'helpful' button!
