We have a very firm mattress and we've always loved it and it's still in really good shape, but my arms always fall asleep and my lower back aches when I wake up. We thought this would be a good solution to help with both problems, and my husband has always wanted a little bit softer of a mattress. When I got the mattress it was very strong smelling but the directions said to let it air out and that took care of the smell. The foam is excellent. I've purchased different brands of memory foam for my kids beds and they seemed to not be dense enough and would loose their ability to go back to their normal shape after a while. This is very dense and cushions my back and when I move positions the foam goes back to its original shape. It seems to align my body better than laying on just my mattress. I am a side sleeper and was skeptical if this would solve the problem of my arms falling asleep, but I woke up this morning without numb arms :) My husband loves it! He was afraid it would make our bed to hot but I think the ventilation holes help to keep the heat off our backs. He has slept so well on it and also thinks it aligns his body better than just the bed.
