I bought this product for an indoor cat that had defeated every other attempt I had made to keep him off the kitchen counters and dining room table. He has an enriched environment including a basket of toys, window perches, and a cat tree, but he just loves jumping on our counters. The cat is very intelligent, he would actually sneak up behind the Ssscat motion detecting spray canisters and knock them over to disable them. He did the same thing with the motion detecting ultrasonic noise emitters. I tried using double sided tape but he figured out how to peel it off with his teeth! After a several month long arms race I finally bought two of these PetSafe barriers and Velcroed one under the dining room table and one under the kitchen sink. The cat figured out exactly where the barriers were the very first day and now as soon as he hears the warning beeps he immediately gets out of range. He occasionally investigates the perimeters listening for the beeps (as if checking to see if they are still there) but rarely allows himself to get zapped. My problem is officially solved, although I'm sure he will need to wear the collar on and off for a long time due to his perimeter checks... My only complaint is that the collar and receiver are big for a cat. I ended up swapping the collar out with an actual cat collar because it was limiting the range of motion of his neck.
