I have two young cats who love to rough house, so I was hoping this would be a great interactive toy for them. When I first got it out they were definitely curious. But then it ran over one of their tails and they all freaked and then just watched it from afar. The ball doesn't roll well on carpet. It's too slow to keep their interest. On tile it's faster, but I think the large size of it was intimidating (it's about the size of a tennis ball). After about an hour of them just watching it roll around by itself I decided to improvise. The issue I have with this toy is that it's just too big for them to want to play with - maybe over time they'll get used to it, but who knows with cats. To get them to play with it I took a big box, cut a bunch of small holes around it and then put the ball in the box. This turned it into an interactive whack-a-mole kind of thing. The ball rolls around making noise, and the cats run around the box trying to hit it. This actually worked out great! It kept them entertained for awhile.
