Just Got Back From Theater. Already Pre-ordered 4K BluRay. It's that Entertaining.
Just got back from the theater a few hours ago and had to come preorder the BluRay so I can watch it again as soon as it comes out. And it very well may be my 3rd time seeing it by then as I want to take my parents to see it soon since they are the reason I started listening to Queen to begin with. My first concert ever was Queen at Madison Square Garden in 1982. I was 8 years old and probably had no business being there, but I was. At that point in time, already taking piano lessons, I was enamored with Mercury. I wanted to be him. I knew nothing about sexual orientation. Hell, I did not even know about kissing yet. All I cared about was his voice and the music. Queen was something different. Something amazing.
I actually hesitated to see the movie in the theater as I was listening to the critics. It is not being received well and I truly have no clue at all why this is the case. Yes, it is a big movie, but Queen was a big band. I feel like they do an absolutely fantastic job at conveying the story that Mercury himself was a genius but also was a tortured soul. Never feeling as if he had anyone he could truly call family, even if he did.
The image I have attached to this review is a tribute portrait illustration I drew of Mercury by request but also knowing this movie would be coming out soon. Maybe someone will enjoy it.
Go see this movie. Do not believe the critics. Rami Malek deserves at the very least a nomination. He has some stiff competition this year, but he could and possibly should easily win. He is almost as brilliant as the man he is tasked with portraying, which is no easy task at all. Mercury was truly a once in a lifetime perform and human being.
