I bought an 18" satchel/messenger from Passion Leather a few years ago and still get compliments on it. I treated it with Obenauf's heavy duty leather protector and it developed an incredible rich ruddy patina. When it came time to buy a carry on bag for an upcoming international trip, I decided to find a larger bag to match. The 21" rectangle duffle is what I decided to go with. It's a beautiful bag with a clean design and enough structure to hold it's shape. I picked up another little pot of Obenauf's and spent an hour applying several coats of it all over the exterior of the new bag. Now it's a nearly perfect match to the bag I've had for years and i could't be more pleased. Some may not appreciate the straight-forward design, but I find it very functional and like that it's not 'fussy'. The shoulder strap is removable unlike on the larger bags and that's important for my needs. I plan to use this as a carry on bag for air travel and made sure that it doesn't exceed size limits. It could be a wider and taller and still be allowed, but I don't think it needs to be. Paired with the 18" satchel as the 'under seat bag', I don't think I need more space for a week long trip. I'm looking forward to my next excuse to buy another of these beautiful handmade bags from Passion Leather. If they made a carry on sized duffel/shoulder bag that converts to a backpack with hide-able backpack straps, I would be already have it. If I had to make a suggestion to improve the bags I have, it would be to use magnets as fasteners instead of buckles. Since I don't use these bags everyday, I like the buckle as a little bit of security, but the straps and buckles can get a little cumbersome if you need to get in and out of them frequently.
