The sole purpose for me is to be able to hook up my Dragonfly DAC/headphone amp to my phone and this device does that perfectly. I can even charge the phone while I listening to music. This particular unit is more expensive than the other adapter that just has the USB port (no charging capability). However, it does not produce the pops and clicks reported by other users with the less expensive model and being able to charge at the same time makes it worth the extra cost. I would recommend this device.
