Two major issues prevent this from actually being usable - issues w/side brush and dark carpet
I was excited to try out my very first robot vacuum. I read many reviews and waited for a sale on a unit with most of the features I wanted - on paper, this one has it all except for AI obstacle avoidance (no camera on front to see items). The first problem happened within ten minutes, when the bot moved into my living room where I have a medium pile rug. The bot got stuck nearly immediately and sent my phone an alert but there was no need - I could see that the spinning side brush had tangled itself on the carpet. I ripped it free and the same thing immediately happened again. Upon searching internet, many people face this issue. The company response is to send out a different type of brush. No big deal, I will remove the brush entirely in the meantime to let the vacuum keep cleaning. In a hallway, I have a rug with black borders and it also has black inside the rug - it's just an abstract pattern. The robot stumbles around in tiny circles for no reason..I found out that the edge detection sensors are confused thinking the bot is about to fall off a cliff. Again after research, many people report this issue. On roborock forums, company response going back 2+ years is 'we are working on the issue'. They could easily implement an app feature for a manual ' this is safe' zone, the same way you can add a no-go zone (or virtual wall). Yet they won't do it for some reason. I already taped the sensors and this is a band-aid fix, but it shouldn't be necessary on an $800 item. Shame on you, roborock.
