Great for messing around and being compact
I've been DJ'ing since the 80's. I have a lot of different controllers that I bring out in gigs that are in heavy flight cases. Sometimes you just want to grab something and try some techniques or mixes out. This little controller is a blast. As long as you have a way to output your audio through your device, it feels just like a regular controller, just smaller. The bluetooth midi is really cool as I don't have to rely on any direct USB wire to my iPhone or iPad. I can keep playing and towards the end of the gig, just pack my controller and use the screen controls until I'm done. This way I can clear out in seconds.
I remapped majority of the controller to suit my mixing style. It doesn't have browse and load functions so I changed out some of the hot cue buttons for browsing, FX, and loops. I also changed out some of the EQ knobs to control master and cue volume.
I do a lot of background music mixing for corporate/retail and this has become one of my favorite controllers. A lot of times I'm in an area where I can't fit a big controller like a SX3. It's small enough to throw in a backpack and it works with either laptop, iPad, or iPhone. I even added a little foldable magnetic mount so I can just mount my phone on the controller. Most of the time I use it with an iPad using DJAY. I have a 5000mah lipstick USB battery that clings to the back of the unit with a magnet. Also switched out the USB cable to a 6" cable with right angle connector. This makes it very compact and clean. With the USB battery, I can do an 8 hour gig and only use 50% of the battery.
