I bought 3 ultra bright LED lanterns and got a very good deal with the promotional offer and free shipping, basically getting one lantern for free. The design of these lanterns is extremely pleasing to me, they are compact, lightweight yet seemingly quite stout. Simple and efficient carry/hanging handles. The lights turn on automatically as the top is lifted up, starting with the top raised about 1/4", and the top may be left in any position along its full raised height to allow for a variety of brightness, very nice! I have yet to put these through the rigors of camping and travel, however, they work magnificently as tip-up lights for ice fishing in the dark. One lantern per tip up and you can see everything from the shanty. Also will live off-grid someday and I truely believe that these battery efficient LEDs could be all you would need for nites in the cabin (may need to fashion a small shade (knit cap) tossed over the top to mute the brightness for indoor use). LEDs do not get hot either, no risk of fire in a tent.
