The VoIP gateway basically worked out of the box after setting up an Ooma account. Having voicemail buttons directly on the gateway is a nice touch IMO. Ooma's free (plus taxes) service tier works great for my family's residential purposes - sounds similar to and as reliable as my previous cable ISP VoIP service. Transferring my existing phone number to Ooma was easy and rather quick, too. A quick note for those wanting optimum VoIP service quality and reliability. If using a network router with QoS (quality of service) enabled, set the Ooma gateway to the network's top priority device and the router QoS bandwidth to slightly below your ISP bandwidth. DSLReports has a good speed test to check speeds and bufferbloat.
