My dad's can opener that he's had for like 250 years broke. This was quite a problem because I was sure nothing else would rise to the standards of the one some colonial tradesman had widdled for him so long ago. He picked one up at Walmart or something and it was a "piece of junk". During my last visit to his house I had to listen to him rant about how he can't find a decent can opener and nothing is quality made these days; it was delightful. To ensure my next visit would not be "part two" of his can opener tirade, I started searching for can openers on Amazon. This one had great reviews and it's made in America (which is pretty much a prerequisite for my dad). I had it shipped directly to his house. At my next visit he was absolutely giddy over how well this can opener worked -- better than his old one -- which was really saying something. It takes A LOT to get that kind of approval from my dad (trust me, 40 plus years later and I'm still waiting ....) but this can opener had him clicking his heels with the first can of baked beans he opened. Don't hesitate -- it's cranky, disapproving dad approved.
