I don't know I didn't get one if these before. Probably due to the reviews some people post on here about it not doing its job. But as another buyer pointed out don't try to cool a 5 bedroom house with this unit. It has specifics for the type of size rooms it will cool. I use this in a mid size bedroom and it is amazing! The instructions on the install were confusing but I kinda mcgivered my own instructions. So far so good. It cools very fast and shuts off after the temperature i have it set at. Or rather I have it on fan mode, which means it just fans out after it reaches my desired temperature. Now noise level, this isn't a central air unit so of course it's going to make noise. I actually love it, its white noise to me and helps me sleep better. All in all it does its job and I'm not melting in this bi polar CA heat waves. Highly recommend!
