This machine replaced my five year old Nespresso. The Bodum is much lighter and it really serves the function of simultaneously heating and frothing the milk. So far, it has worked just fine, giving a dense foam to the milk. There are two points to make if one wants to make good use of this machine. 1- there is only one frothing attachment and consequently the only way to control the proportion of foam to milk is to turn off the switch before the cycle is completed in order to get more milk than foam, or let it run the course and get lots of foam and very little milk. 2- although the machine appears to turn off itself automatically when the cycle of heating milk is completed, in reality it still is ON. One must manually turn the switch to the OFF position in order to prevent the machine to start running again should the temperature decrease below certain point. With these two points clear, it appears that one can enjoy the Bodum's ability to make an excellent milk froth.
