Very soft, good weave. I washed before using and afterwards found one pulled thread. My machines are new, no center column or anything in the washer or dryer that would cause a snag. There was really no fallout from the blanket during washing. You can see that the wash tub was all but clean with just a few pieces of lint left behind. The dryer was where the blanket did its shedding. A full lint trap! But that is typical of cotton blankets and to be expected. I like the blanket, would recommend it and I might buy another. The deeply woven edges at top and bottom give it a luxury look.
