A pleasant surprise
I’ve been debating for over a year about getting a pellet smoker or a grill, and just never did it. I’ve heard friends talking about an air fryer and maybe that was what I wanted. After looking at air fryers and reading reviews I noticed people loved their air fryers or hated them after they first used it and got a burnt plastic smell. I could choose an air fryer that was like a toaster oven, I liked this but thought it was way too big for my counter top. I could buy an air fryer that doubles as a pressure cooker, or the original type with the drawer/basket. After a few hours of search and research I decided the basket version would fit me best. This Dreo air fryer looked the best, it had touch pad controls on top and a window and a light, and I figured 6.8 quarts would be enough. I know, I bought a new product with no reviews because of how it looked. Lol. Every air fryer was getting positive reviews so I just took the chance that it would be a good experience and I bought the beautiful big air fryer with the easy touchpad controls on top and the window in front. I received my air fryer in 3 or 4 days. I have never in my life gotten a package in perfect shape. As a career truck driver I’ve seen lots of packages, none were as clean as this one. First thought… Oh! It’s big. This good looking machine is about 13” (inches) tall, deep and wide. I took it outside and ran it once like it says in the instructions so that it would burn off that plastic smell people complain about. I can cook chicken in the oven, a toaster oven, and over charcoal. I had no idea what to expect, was it going to burn on the outside, was it going to taste good. I rinsed and dried the chicken, then used some seasoning, that’s all. An air fryer gets hot so I bought some extra light olive oil and a spray bottle, I read to use oil that can get hot without smoking, that’s why I bought the extra light olive oil. So I’m seasoned and ready. I sprayed a touch or oil in the basket so nothing would stick, it has a non stick finish but thought I’d be safe. I put the grate in and lightly sprayed oil on it too. I closed the air fryer, pre heated it and loaded thighs. I’ve since learned that 380 degrees for 25 minutes got my chicken thighs to 175 degrees inside. I checked now and then through the window, I started skin side down and at 15 minutes, I turned them over. After 25 minutes my chicken was lightly brownish and lightly crispy. I don’t remember eating better chicken, ever. French fries were awesome too. I’ve only had this Dreo Air Fryer for a few days, but I’ve used it daily, I love it and cleanup is simple. I’ve no desire for more, the window sold me, and I’m happy with my purchase
